  • Poppies seem to be awakening this year and spring up everywhere......in yards, ranches, mountains......Locals say this is the best they have seen in the last 20 years. I drove through the area last year and found only a few bundles here and there! But this year, I was just dazzled by what I saw. The color seemed to change by the moment, what I didn't see last night, sprung up in full bloom in the morning everywhere.......Peak of the poppy bloom is in mid-April.

  • Sunset in the valley....Poppies spreading out in valley floor like a carpet as far as one's eye can see....the flowers glow deeper red as the last rays of the sun receding in the western mountains..

  • ....by the dirt road....
  • A rainbow showed up ...for a few seconds.... during my hike up the mountain trail on a sunny day.... a rare coincidental occasion... and what a fleeting moment!
  • The rain bow is more like an inverted circlar arc under a blue sky with a strange cloud pattern... a photographic opportunity I didn't plan on.
