  • As in previous years, the adults led the youngs out to hunt after they learned how to fly. They hunted together for a few weeks, then it's time for them to part. One can feel some sadness in the air days before this happens. The first sign is that the whole family (Mom, Dad and two young eaglets) would perch often together at the same tree branch or nearby , and the eaglets would keep on calling. Come one morning, an adult would lead one of the eaglets to hunt and not return for a few days. The other adult would do the same with the second eaglet. Days later, the adults would come back alone. You will not see the eaglets again.

The next few images show the two adults have returned to the tree after leading the youngs away in June, 2011 They will be together for a while before leaving for the north separately. Where north? No one knows, may be Pennsylvania, New York, or Canada. But no matter where they go, they probably will be back to the same tree in Sept-Oct and start the next generation of chicks again. But this coming season, they will have to build a new nest. Wait and see.
