Theodore Roosevelt's wife passed away during the birth of his daughter, and his mother due to illness. They both died on the same day. Roosevelt took time off from his business to grieve from New York to the wilderness of the American West. He liked the scenic beauty of this area and bought a ranch not far from here raising cattles for a few years...Later, this park is named in his honor.
